The 22 Teams Competing in the 2024 Vuelta a España Are Announced!

On Friday, February 16th, the organizers of the Vuelta a España (Tour of Spain) revealed the 22 teams that will participate in the 79th edition of the race, starting in Lisbon on August 17th.
This year, Unipublic, the company organizing the Vuelta, used a rotation system to select the teams. This means they invited the two Spanish ProTeams that were excluded from the 2023 race, Euskaltel-Euskadi and Kern Pharma, while leaving out Caja Rural-Seguros RGA and Burgos-BH who participated last year.
Here are the 22 confirmed teams:
- WorldTour Teams: AG2R Citroën Team, Astana Qazaqstan Team, Bahrain Victorious, Bora-Hansgrohe, Cofidis, EF Education-EasyPost, Groupama-FDJ, Ineos Grenadiers, Intermarché-Circus-Wanty, Jumbo-Visma, Lotto Soudal, Movistar Team, Team BikeExchange-Jayco, Team DSM, Trek-Segafredo, UAE Team Emirates
- ProTeams: Arkéa-Samsic, Burgos-BH (invited based on rotation), Caja Rural-Seguros RGA (invited based on rotation), Euskaltel-Euskadi (invited based on rotation), Kern Pharma (invited based on rotation)
The Vuelta a España is one of the three Grand Tours, alongside the Tour de France and the Giro d’Italia. It’s a challenging three-week race with a demanding course that will test the endurance and skills of the world’s best cyclists. With the participating teams now confirmed, anticipation is building for what promises to be an exciting and competitive race!
