Tadej Pogacar wins Saitama Criterium 2023
The Saitama Criterium, a cycling race held in Saitama, Japan on November 5, 2023, race was won by Tadej Pogacar of the UAE Team Emirates, who finished ahead of Sepp Kuss of Jumbo-Visma. Pogacar’s victory comes one week after he finished second to Kuss in the Singapore Criterium.
The Saitama Criterium is a non-points-bearing race that is held annually in Saitama, Japan. The race is typically held in early November and is one of the last major races of the cycling season.
Other notable riders in the race included Chris Froome (Israel-Premier Tech), Mark Cavendish (Astana Qazaqstan), and Peter Sagan (TotalEnergies). Froome, who won the inaugural Saitama Criterium in 2013, finished third in this year’s race. Cavendish, a multiple Tour de France stage winner, finished fourth, while Sagan, a three-time world champion, finished fifth.
