Matteo Fabbro to join EOLO-Kometa team ?
Matteo Fabbro might be on the verge of joining the EOLO-Kometa team. After two seasons marked by misfortune, including injuries and illness, the Udine native could sign with the team managed by the Contador brothers and Ivan Basso.
After four years at BORA-hansgrohe, Matteo Fabbro is expected to leave Ralph Denk’s team. The 28-year-old Italian is reportedly close to joining EOLO-Kometa, a UCI ProTeam based in Italy.
Fabbro has had a mixed time at BORA-hansgrohe. He has shown flashes of brilliance, such as his victory in the 2021 Strade Bianche, but he has also been plagued by injuries and illness. In 2022, he missed much of the season with a broken collarbone, and he has also struggled with COVID-19.
A move to EOLO-Kometa could be a good opportunity for Fabbro to get his career back on track. The team is relatively new, but it has quickly established itself as one of the best ProTeams in the world. Fabbro would have the opportunity to ride alongside some of the best riders in the world, including Alberto Contador and Ivan Basso.
It is not yet clear when Fabbro will officially sign with EOLO-Kometa, but it is expected to happen in the coming weeks.
