Alaphilippe 2024‘s Strategy
Two-time WorldTour winner Julian Alaphilippe has confirmed his first goal of 2024 as he looks to get back to his very best after two seasons of crashes and below-par performances.
The former World Champion enjoyed a low-profile off season, signing off at Il Lombardia and then the Japan Cup.
“I’m still motivated,” Alaphilippe said in an interview. “I know I can get back to my best, and I’m going to do everything I can to make sure that happens in 2024.”
Alaphilippe’s main goal for 2024 will be Tour of Flanders. The 30-year-old has finished on the podium in the race three times, but has never won it.“I’ve always loved the Tour of Flanders,” he said. “It’s a race that suits me well, and I think I can win it.”
He will also be targeting the Ardennes Classics, including La Flèche Wallonne and Liège-Bastogne-Liège. “I’ll be taking it one race at a time,” he said. “But I’m confident that I can have a good year in 2024.”
The French champion will return to form will be a major boost for Soudal Quick-Step. The Belgian team has been without its star rider for much of the past two seasons, and his return will be a welcome boost.
