Israel Premier Tech riders make headlines with their latest move
Israel Premier Tech team to wear plain training kits
The Israel Premier Tech team has decided to wear plain training kits instead of their usual blue and white jerseys in the upcoming races, as a sign of respect and support for their country, which is facing a violent conflict with Hamas.
The team, which is the first and only Israeli professional cycling team, announced the decision on their social media accounts, saying that they want to “stand together as one” with the people of Israel, who are suffering from rocket attacks and civil unrest.
The team’s co-owner, Sylvan Adams, who is also a Canadian-Israeli billionaire and philanthropist, explained that the gesture is meant to show that the team is “more than just a sports team” and that they have a “deep connection” with their homeland.
“We are proud to represent our country on the world stage, but we are also aware of the difficult situation that our country is going through right now. We want to send a message of solidarity and hope to our fellow Israelis, and also to call for peace and coexistence in our region,” Adams said.
Support & sympathy for the Israeli people
The team’s riders, who come from different countries and backgrounds, expressed their support for the initiative and their sympathy for the Israeli people.
“I think it’s a beautiful and meaningful gesture. We are a team that represents Israel, but we are also a team that believes in peace and dialogue. We hope that this situation will end soon and that everyone will be safe,” said Canadian rider Guillaume Boivin, who is also the team’s road captain.
The team will wear the plain training kits in the upcoming races, such as the Tour of Hungary, the Tour of Slovenia and the Critérium du Dauphiné, until the situation in Israel improves.
The team also urged their fans and followers to donate to the Magen David Adom, the Israeli national emergency medical service, which is providing assistance to the victims of the conflict.
