Fem van Empel to lead Dutch Team
Fem van Empel will be the immense favorite to win the title at the European Cyclo-Cross Championships scheduled for November 4–5 in Pont-Château, France. The 21-year-old leader is in very good form since the beginning of the season.
And the competition for the Dutch leader is likely to come from within her own team. Indeed, the top 4 in the overall World Cup standings, Fem van Empel, Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado, Inge van der Heijden and Leonie Bentveld are Dutch and will all participate in the European Championships.
The Dutch selection is therefore very strong and should be the favorite to win the team title. However, other nations will also be able to count on strong riders, such as the Belgian Puck Pieterse, the French Lucie Chainel-Lafon and the Italian Silvia Persico.
The European Cyclo-Cross Championships will be a great opportunity for Fem van Empel to confirm her status as the world number one. She will also be able to count on the support of her teammates to help her win the team title.
