2024 Sibiu Tour revealed
The organizers of the Sibiu Tour have unveiled the route of the 14th edition of the Romanian stage race, which will take place from July 6 to 9, 2024.
The parcours is largely traditional, with the two main stages being the climbs to Bâlea Lac and Paltinis.
Stage 1: Sibiu — Paltinis, 170 km
This stage is a challenging one, with a summit finish on the climb to Paltinis. The climb is 12.4 km long with an average gradient of 6.5%.
Stage 2a: Sibiu — Sibiu, 97 km
This stage is a shorter one, but it is still demanding, with a number of hills throughout. The finish is in the historic center of Sibiu.
Stage 2b: Sibiu — Sibiu, 3.3 km ITT
This is a short individual time trial, which will likely be decided by seconds.
Stage 3: Sibiu — Bâlea Lac, 207 km
This is the queen stage of the Sibiu Tour, with a summit finish on the climb to Bâlea Lac. The climb is 23.7 km long with an average gradient of 6%.
The overall classification of the Sibiu Tour is likely to be decided on the final two stages, with the climbers being the favorites to win. However, the individual time trial could also play a role, as it could give the time trial specialists a chance to make up time on the climbers.
